not going to comment on anything else in Biden's speech tonight except for this: There is something deeply wrong with the perspective that assumes that social progress looks like _more_ years of a child's life spent in school, not less.

The school system is inhumane and miseducates people while exposing them to an environment of political indoctrination and emotional abuse. Some handle it better than others, but I don't think it's good for anybody, and the people it's bad for are traumatized by it.

The school system robs parents of the most precious thing they have in their life: time spent with their children. The school system transfers power from the people to the state on a mass scale. It is carceral and authoritarian by its very nature.

The fact that there are ways to read correlative statistics such that more school -> better economic outcomes is a smoke screen. This system is WAY WAY WAY too complex for these statistical arguments to be meaningful.

Our society and its government likes school institutions because they cause parents to devote ever more of their life to work and/or consumption, as the state assumes ever more of the task of raising and educating children. This is viewed as creating value. This is perverse.

An enlightened society wouldn't value separation of parents from their children. An enlightened society wouldn't value adults devoting ever more of their lives to things that aren't their family, or their community, or their personal passions. We need much less school, not more.
