They have another big problem: not agreeing who should come after Merkel. https://www.zdf.de/nachrichten/politik/union-kanzlerkandidatur-laschet-soeder-k-frage-100.html … And with each day they're arguing and not deciding, they're losing more votes to the green party.

Maybe but they've benefitted from the AFD and FDP not doing all that well lately The Greens may beat them next time but the government they form is going to be very shaky (almost certainly relying on the rather tankie SED successor party)
