i want to start picking up and putting down heavy things, but i don't have any heavy things that are good for picking up and putting down (i don't think), and i wouldn't know what to do with them if i did. any advice or links to helpful resources would be appreciated.

i would start in a gym if you're able. a good one will have a rack and a bench and a platform and some barbells, and that's all you really need if you want to work out at home the same setup is ideal but a big investment if you're just starting out

I might check out Starting Strength as a first read if you're interested, it has very detailed and well-written sections on the major lifts and how they work, how to do them, and how to combine it into a program
