noticed something. ime the Status of a restaurant can be determined by the number of choices available to a diner in setting the meal's parameters. the lowest-status restaurants let you customize your meal; the highest-status don't even give you a menu

this corresponds with the control or a chef over a meal. the highest-status chefs are expected to be masters with better taste than you and if you don't enjoy what they bring it reflects poorly on you low status restaurants implicitly permit that you might know better
