noticed something. ime the Status of a restaurant can be determined by the number of choices available to a diner in setting the meal's parameters. the lowest-status restaurants let you customize your meal; the highest-status don't even give you a menu

Choosing what you like is ultimately low class. You'd be a whole lot classier if you displayed an unrelenting tendency to let someone else choose for you.
-
Highest class though is to go to a top end restaurant and tell the Michelin chef to make you a burger with fries.

I think this might be true for the extremes of the spectrum, but not the middle. Is a restaurant with a menu three pages long lower status than a restaurant with a one page menu? I don't think so. (I'm not sure it's higher status either.)

i think it generally is others have pointed out food quality issues stemming from having a larger variety of food on hand
