robot friends episode 32: eigenrobot vs @totoTavrinky
we talked about Robert Pirsig's second work, Lila, and applied the philosophical framework in that book to absolutely everything that we could possibly think of in eighty minutes. it was electrichttps://soundcloud.com/user-557955426/episode-32-eigenrobot-vs-tototavrinky …

an interesting thing about Pirsig is that perhaps his hostility toward creative energy aka "the dynamic quality" and especially salient because scenes are more or less defined by the presence of this Quality in high concentration

hm... i feel like someone got things twisted, throughout the book he consistently places dynamic Quality at the top of his moral hierarchy, he argues that static quality is needed to secure the dynamic advances we make, but rarely attributes anything negative to dynamic Quality

it's easy to get confused as he does criticize degeneracy but he frames it as biological quality taking over social quality. his hierarchy is very explicit, he names 4 types of static quality patterns: inorganic q < biological q < social q < intellectual q << Dynamic Q

i think this is a very clear example: he argues that, from a static pov, communism is the superior system, as it uses intellectual patterns to organize social ones, but claims that capitalism is ultimately better because it allows for Dynamic movement in a way communism resists.

hahahaha I adore him this makes a lot of sense to me--once more I don't feel confident in making any claims about the framework having not read the book, only running on toto's description of it but the way you lay it out does sound more cohorenthttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1345447982666170368 …
