i used to think the "my house, my rules" thing was pretty reasonable if applied only to adults in the home, but your job as a parent is to set your kid up for success if they're at your house voluntarily, fine, but if they cant leave bc they cant support themselves... 1/2

some use sociocratic family meetings exactly for this. remains an attractive idea for us, we use it sporadically. big upside when it works, but also big time/energy investment that can be hard to muster depending on how Stuff is going.
