one thing that scott might have mentioned is the absolutely atrocious state of exercise science stuff where they have people who can eg bench their own bodyweight identified as "highly trained" participants, which imo is far more supportive of favoring metis

generalizing from this most laboratory studies are atrocious and completely unrepresentative of real conditions under which the phenomena they purport to investigate occur external validity, indexicality, etc
