oh i guess singal is criticizing the IAT now the man is a true masochist. i wish him the best of luck

for real though IAT is is embarrassing. the entire field of psychology should be mortified that their name is on this

its kind of funny when people hear that some thing (eg IAT) is garbage and they need to somehow identify every part of their worldview that rests on that thing and come up with a new story for it maybe this is a weakness of compulsive bayesianism

like ultimately your response to learning that IAT is hot garbage might simply be "well i know less than i thought i did and i should be even less confident about other things that i thought i knew" but instead bob is trying to come up with a sort of comprehensive rectification

example: "this test fails to attain even internal validity" means "you should ignore this test forever. burn it. damnatio memoriae" but maybe you dont know this if you're not passingly familiar with basic psychometricshttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1379657255516180480 …

eigenrobot @eigenrobotReplying to @Caroline30 @robertwrighter @jessesingalit is weirdly painful even though i dont object to either of them or what theyre saying i think in my case it might be preexisting familiarity with stats and psychometrics like jesse just dropped some stuff casually that made me scream and then moved on like it wasnt a big deal2 replies 0 retweets 25 likesShow this thread -
goes on to also critique the superpredator meme which, fine, but its kind of stale innit feels like political cover which, also fine

also criticizing Grit. casually compares grit unfavorably to IQ shiny and chrome

Replying to @eigenrobot
Is Grit worth reading? The concept seems interesting, but haven't studied up on it.
