That is the reason I think unrest is unlikely. But really old people aren't that productive on the job, and they probably make companies less dynamic, and if you make them work in factories at age 75 a lot are going to die.

Doesn’t it depend on the job? If they’re paid for work produced, it shouldn’t matter much - maybe that is common? And for a lot of companies, is dynamism really that important compared to efficient throughput?

Unrest is kind of irrelevant in an authoritarian surveillance state with expert control of their media, and legions of rabid followers. NK doesn't have most of that, or food/economy, and they've never had an uprising of notes size. China's moonshot ting automation too.
