figured out the other night that cars killed fashion 80% or more of the value of selecting ones daily attire with care and flair comes from looking good for strangers on the street this is why people in new york and europe still put in the effort. transit.

Not necessarily. Climate and crime have a bigger influence. As someone who lives in a south american country, dressing well is essentially reserved for days when I don't have to take the bus or walk too much on the streets.

American's higher crime rates and warmer climate and much more plausible explanations for worse fashion than simply blaming cars. Also, migrants importing their awful sense of fashion.
