After many discussions of this sort, my wife and I came to this conclusion. We have two foreign countries we're potentially looking at, but we're more focused on developing a plan to lay as low as possible and as close to the source of the food supply chain as possible.

I don't think the US is on a path to self destruction. The combination of rapid social progress and the aftermath of a major economic shock in 2008 has made our politics a bit nuts short-term but I think that'll mellow out again in the medium term.
