So my favorite part of this thread is how all the highly applauded answers are women who take on traditionally masculine roles Who’s the best FEMME coded character in science fiction and why? I’d have to think about ithttps://twitter.com/TheAnnaGat/status/1372357237180657666 …

Cordelia? I had the impression that all Betan Survey captains were tremendous badasses, and one of her most epic scenes is turning up in a war room and dropping the bad guy's decapitated head on the table.

but she does it in a feminine way. to save a BABY and taking care of her child is a major concern imo!

later in the series (you haven't met her yet) but Ekaterin Vorkosigan is extremely femme. She has her heroic arc in the book Komarr, and a smaller political one in A Civil Campaign.

I didn’t find Friday a compelling character. And I haven’t seen a single mention of *any* of Anne McCaffrey’s innumerable excellent female characters! I’d go with Killashandra Ree, personally, but you can make cases for Lessa, Nimisha Boynton-Rondymense, and others.

I liked... whatever-her-name-was from the Freedom's Landing series (haven't read that in like fifteen years)

Also, does Anime count? Because obviously Faye Valentine is a contender. And Haruhara Haruko is a total femme badass, although arguments could be made that she is in fact a villain, rather than a hero.pic.twitter.com/9yPiM2Wxgf
