just watched Secondhand Lions with @selentelechia at her suggestion, had never seen it
great show about a kid who saves and is saved by his great uncles, and grows up to become Bill Watterson but drawn by Berke Breathed (literally. the style is inimitable. and check the credits)

I have many stories but absolutely zero luteinizing hormone. Very grim prospects. Please give Baby Moonbot an extra hug for me, because I shall never know such joy.

Can say that worked well for us, and new stories continued while they grew up. Your children are safer if they see you as legendary and brilliant, especially if you remind them they will create their own amazing stories that exceed yours, as mine have. None of us rich, but fun.

Play your cards right & you can still accumulate occasional experiences with unmentionable stories after the kid is a toddler. You just need grandparent/co-parent accomplices. A friend of mine calls this her werewolf time, as she drops off the kid once a month and goes wild
