So first month is going to be easier then the following 3-4. Just a heads up. Right now baby will sleep all the time, ignore light and sound. But then there will be a switch and all the things baby used to ignore it will now wake it up.

I somewhat dread this although per Moon there are perhaps means of mitigating this. training accustomization to certain sounds

It's just all part of parent skill grind. There will be so many things you learn from active parenting that no amount of advice will help. I just love to watch new parents. So you will have phases where what worked previously will stop working until you find a new normal. 1/2

While baby being on mom is what I prefer too there will be a lot of times where you will be forced to step in. First because you want baby attached to you too. Mom will always have the advantage but if baby(on to a toddler) is attached to you, you will be able to put them to 2/3

Sleep. Second she will need rest by her self from time to time. For my second I would play Warhammer 2 in the middle of the night while he sleeps on top of me for like several months. Expect once every two months to change up technique. You will see diminishing returns before 3/4

It stops working and you move on to something else.

appreciate all of this. I have a book on development I've been meaning to read through--i think the authors have a framework that matches this kind of intermittent developmental spurt. HMM
really glad to have validation
