I haven't read the articles; but, at face value, it doesn't seem absurd to attempt both explanations. There are people that underestimate the danger as well as people that overestimate the danger... Did the articles go further than the tweets indicate? *Assuming non-0 danger

@DavidDeutschOxf criticises the emphasis on cognitive biases (mostly coming out of rationalist community).
All humans are fallible. We make mistakes. This doesn’t equate to cognitive biases that *some people need to fix more than others*.
Altho @robinhanson points out that “biases” are simply systematic mistakes.
However, many people in cog bias space imply that they cannot be overcome, due to human irrationality. Deutsch emphasises that problems are solvable!
