I think male social structures tend to contain negative feedback loops or win conditions, while female patterns can escalate in an unbounded direction. Stoicism -> calmer person wins, convergence on no emotion. Victim culture -> larger display of pain wins, infinite escalation.

I do see a big gender aspect to this stuff, and think male virtue is almost synonymous with "behaviors which function in impersonal groups with little mutual investment". (I know my placement of these replies was awkward. Limits of the space)
