Socrates basically spent his entire life trying to prove that wisdom is not the same as knowledge.
Aristotle’s whole shtick was the practice philosophy of philosophy led you to being a wise person, who could act rationally, which was essential to living the good life (eudaimonia).
Something I think about too. My observation : “intelligence” was “cleverness” which could have good and bad connotation. “Wisdom” was prized across most major religions.
Sophist, begone!
I am not an expert of greek mythology but you have different flavors : Sophia (wisdom), Athena (strategic gam/theory thinking), Coeus (asking the good questions). I am sure there are specialists about that.
Wasn't Sisyphus punished for being a smart ass?
stop proving me wrong its rudehttps://twitter.com/ITBeHa/status/1363847138946519040 …
noticed one difference: wisdom seems to correlate with experience and age. cleverness doesn't seem to it's easy to imagine an intelligent 10 year old boy. but a wise 10 year old boy? doesn't feel natural
it is easy tho imagine a immature old guy. which means "age" is not correlated with years but with volatility. more volatile is you life more wise you are since volatile is linked to risk, courage is the ultimate virtue that glue all other, not IQ
oh no Aristotle has come down from the shelf again
... skimming Nicomachean Ethics it seems like he has got five or six concepts in play which the translator renders as : philosophical wisdom practical wisdom political wisdom judgement cleverness smartness smartness is intelligently working toward a dumb goal and is not a virtue
