Then surely you run into the same issue, there’s already confusing about your meaning here.

I was confused about whether you wanted to abolish regulating/checking goods are safe altogether (which I assume you don’t?) vs simply wanting some other institution to handle that.

the role of the fda is complicated and multifarious but most of its functions are genuinely bad and the rest could be well-handled by other institutions

Well I feel like this complexity and the bad functions vs the useful stuff that can be handled by other institutions isn’t well captured by the phrase ‘abolish the FDA’.

this is not actually a clever retort or effective semantics. i literally want the fda ended as an institution. everyone is fired and the building is closed and the budget item struck from the government.

Do you want food and drugs to be regulated at the federal level in any way whatsoever?

Okay, well I believe the UK FSA & MHRA independently regulate US imports otherwise I would avoid any perishable good imported from the US at all costs if you had your way.

A quick Q: are you of the opinion that poisoning people is unprofitable and so the market would just naturally regulate itself?
