i think this is a bad approach for the reason that "abolish the police" is a bad approach unless you are actually planning to abolish the police and also because I am being literal when I say we should abolish the FDA and dont want confusion about my meaninghttps://twitter.com/Katabassist/status/1363527574647939077 …

Why do you want to abolish the FDA? Do you completely want to abolish checking if things sold to consumers are actually poisonous?

Then surely you run into the same issue, there’s already confusing about your meaning here.

I was confused about whether you wanted to abolish regulating/checking goods are safe altogether (which I assume you don’t?) vs simply wanting some other institution to handle that.

the role of the fda is complicated and multifarious but most of its functions are genuinely bad and the rest could be well-handled by other institutions

Well I feel like this complexity and the bad functions vs the useful stuff that can be handled by other institutions isn’t well captured by the phrase ‘abolish the FDA’.

this is not actually a clever retort or effective semantics. i literally want the fda ended as an institution. everyone is fired and the building is closed and the budget item struck from the government.

Do you want food and drugs to be regulated at the federal level in any way whatsoever?
