spent the afternoon (really the afternoon) recording with @shlevy
the first hour is a discussion of Objectivism, and the history and tenets thereof, delivered by shea and peppered with my questions about how it relates to various fictional charactershttps://soundcloud.com/user-557955426/episode-15-eigenrobot-vs-shea …

I think this was pretty enlightening on my side. The Objectivist ethics is really post- (or maybe pre-) Christian; and Rand truly does favor a novel (or ancient) Type of Guy there may be an ethos of arete with industrial characteristics here

i also noticed some parallels with rationalists while we were recording. in particular that the most vocal critics of each tend to be much dumber than the people whom they criticize

not that theres anything wrong with being dumb.

episode ends with a discussion of qualia generating and evaluating science and technology. I wish in some ways we'd had more time to discuss this. i also mean to say to be clear i am not criticizing shea for pursuing this when I note that it could be abused by wicked people

specifically because wicked people are going to figure it out anyway and are hypothetical future torture devices really worse than what we had in antiquity I mean I just listened to
