Derrida and Foucault are damaged in CRT circles by being white men, so instead, their ideas are laundered through others. That's the idea, anyway. I read Cynical Theories.
-
I found it decent, but very simple. If you've read and rejected Foucault / Critical theory already it doesn't teach you much, but it would be good for a confused parent of a student just entering university after being in private Christian School or something.

That's not a contradictory viewpoint. Nobody reads the bible but we are a Christian civilization. Proposition: Stuff that permeates society without being read has way more power than things that are being studied and debated.
-
Moreso, it creates plausible deniability because people who live and breathe and act out this material can sincerely deny they got it from a book.

Ummm they're not the problem as much as their material has been weaponised. My buddy is a sociology professor and we dig into this a lot. To my understanding Crenshawe is where the whole thing really gets ugly and a framework gets drawn up.

My buddy makes a great case for critical theory here if you want to hear it steelmanned -https://anchor.fm/conversationswithaconch/episodes/Biases-and-Basilisks---with-Joey-Gaskins-Jr-eluk6h …
