suspect just about every government i can think of is substantially weaker than it was a year and a half ago and that may be a useful frame for understanding their behavior somewhat generally just a hunch. idk

Whether it is or isn't I've been shocked by the fact that trust in the government still seems to have fallen like a rock there. Last I checked it remains the govt with the most lost trust except maybe the UK (and that one is buoyed by its good vaccine response)

Unfortunately I saw it in a tweet and said that was interesting so its a bit heresy, but I do remember seeing this in fall/winter which is b4 UK has done surprisingly well in its vaccine rollout.
