if hiring an attorney feels roughly like calling a plumber you're more likely UMC if it feels like jumping into a shark tank you're closer to LMChttps://twitter.com/redcar_tenken/status/1357064321524772865?s=19 …

Quick question, robot: how the heck does one know if they’re UMC or LMC?

-
Speech is the main tell. Do you cringe when a stewardess says “taking off momentarily” or a middle manager says “is comprised of” and know why those are bad English? If not, you’re not UMC.

Dealt with a bureaucracy issue recently and realized how absolutely fucked I’d have been if I was poor. Dealing with an ex-employer, same thing. “The system is rigged” is an effective narrative because the system IS rigged. But it’s just realpolitik, not some conspiracy.

These things are correlated, but I suspect the casual quality is IQ, in particular the ability to make sense of complex systems and successfully negotiate them. Poor smart immigrants who generally start as LMC don't have nearly as much trouble in these areas.

Sigh. *causal, not casual

At a very deep gut feel level, my fundamental attachment to libertarianism is first and foremost an absolute hatred for paperwork and bureaucracy and the right to optout of the word jungle. Bureaucracy and welfare state are an oppressive system built against LMC and simple people
