People are less careful when it's free, which gets the propaganda out there but profit is more difficult. also the web design / CX of almost every major news org is trash and even when I ALREADY pay them it is so FCKING HARD to get through the pay wall and put my password in fix your shit and treat your subscribers better

this is why I do print subscriptions - no paywall or ID verification on the journals and magazines on my bookshelf - no scroll through ads, no video ads, no cookie consent pop-ups - the UX of print it still unmatched
