I don't think you're any more likely to get taken down from podcast sites than you are to get delisted from google (which does happen but somebody has to be proactive)

Just find music that evokes the spirit of such things rather than the actual Remixes can be listened to on Spotify so you might be okay

New grounds audio has royalty free music, I believe. Probably somebody on soundcloud or bandcamp could also whip up some jingles.

i think the more recognizable the clip, the more likely that you'll be scanned by a bot and DMCA'd. I haven't heard of it happening for video game music, maybe because it would hit a lot of video game reviews. bad thing about DMCA is they autoremove and you have to appeal.

technically you have a right to play short clips of the music, but not as a theme.
