looking to crowdsource responses, RTs appreciated: what sorts of activities feel like “rest” or “relaxation” to you? how can you tell? what do “rest” and “relaxation” feel like to you? physically? emotionally?

i think I am at rest 97% of the time or more "there is nothing I could be doing right now that I would prefer to be doing to this" maybe?

how does that work for you? you can't possibly be doing your most preferred activity 97% of the time, so what makes you not want to be doing something you enjoy more instead of doing boring tasks?

i genuinely am doing my most preferred activity 97% of the time work is sometimes a drag and comprises that 3% for sure but I mostly manage a flow state or duck out to do other things im both very efficient and somewhat lazy

also were you always like that, or did you somehow manage to optimize your life to only include activities you enjoy?

i like brushing my teeth oh
@selentelechia relevant one thing is that I am secretly incredibly particular about the way that I do almost everything that I actually do (and not at all about things that I dont)1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

eg my sandwiches are made with incredible precision i have strong beliefs about which parts of a loaf are most appropriate for which kind of sandwich, ingredients are slice and placed or spread with laser precision i have specific orderings for dishes in the dishwasher

this makes me feel so much less bad about my general inability to do things though because up until now i thought everyone dragged themselves through daily tasks kicking and screaming but had simply learned to put up with it better

honestly the things i dont want to do I just dont and i dont feel bad about it i dont know that I ever really vacuumed much before selene moved in, maybe once or twice a year if I had guests (but I enjoy doing it then)

does that ever cause consequences down the line? do you still feel at rest when you're doing a thing and you don't want to do the thing, but rather you want to prevent what happens if you don't do the thing?
