the way places like FAANGs operate is qualitatively different than antique firms and there are huge advantages to the organizational scale at places like this that can't be easily replicated with existing workforces and norms

my hunch is that if your industry hasnt been eaten by a tech company yet it will probably be soon and its because of organizational and technical infrastructure

probably not but the safe route is getting a masters en route to a phd and then starting to look for industry work while you chip away at your thesis

uncertain but canada makes it a lot easier than EU. I dont know much about the immigration side of things (and im not sure I could look it up, companies play it pretty close to the vest) but happy to talk more if you like! eigenbmo@gmail.com

immigration per se isn't the issue; she's a us citizen. it's that she needs to live here 2 years out of the next 4 to get cdn citizenship but I will email you probably tomorrow I was going to ask if I should use a pseudonym too but I suppose that'd make a referral difficult
