      the way places like FAANGs operate is qualitatively different than antique firms and there are huge advantages to the organizational scale at places like this that can't be easily replicated with existing workforces and norms

      probably not but the safe route is getting a masters en route to a phd and then starting to look for industry work while you chip away at your thesis

          Is masters best for maximizing comp in certain situations? In terms of specialist jobs?

          for specialist jobs probably DS you can get by with a bachelor's if youre good MLE probably a master's and probably a phd but I'm less certain ime it matters a lot for your first job in the class and not much after that
