well, that is the one thing that I found odd - she said "YOU know how excited I am about your… uh… /nomination/" whilst seeming forward and friendly, yet not really excited.

I can’t even describe it. If you’re from the upper Midwest, you completely *get* that she hates this guy and he can DIAF for all she cares. Just the tone and the phrasing combine to tell you that Pete CLEARLY failed to return her casserole dish and is claiming she never sent one.
