at current prevalence I would be shocked if doing a China-style shutdown would allow you to do a China-style reopening just too many smoldering fires maybe if we'd put a few billion into increasing our testing capacity a hundredfold, but \_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not really super convinced of his extrapolation at the end. In Jewish Orthodox communities in Brooklyn, seroprevalence was ~60% by the summer, and yet, after family gatherings for the holidays in September, there was a huge ramp of cases without the need for a new variant.
