I think they'd prefer the latter. It's a no lose play because Republicans are powerless regardless. I really think they see themselves in a position to cement permanent power through structural changes, and they're gonna go for it. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

I don't think it even matters what the leadership says, as it's the civilian left whose voice is constant. My Facebook account for example is mostly otherwise moderate Democrats and it's a sea of hostility toward all things non-left.
