this starts much earlier. we started with a commitment to explaining and arrived at “because we said so” in short order, not just because children don’t do dynamic thinking and repeating the same subproblems exponentially gets tiresome, but also because it gets better compliance.

compliance is great, you wouldn’t believe the number of things that are around in many places that tend to break and/or injure/kill humans when you interact with them adults are drilled to avoid them and don’t notice them any more but parents learn to re-see them right quick
