a thing that worries me is that everything being done now is setting precedent there will probably be Changes after things settle down too this is a legit constitutional (small c) crisis and it will be studied more or less forever

no way joe manchin would vote for it. doubt it even passes the house.
-
this is a procedural resolution under House rules, so it only needs to pass the House however, House rules dictate that motions to expel members from the chamber require supermajority (I think 2/3rds in this case) support, so it's unlikely to pass

I mean if you dont do something about it now escalation between 2004 and now indicates pretty high likelihood of a constitutional crisis, a concept that is thrown around too lightly but here we are, it was a majority of Republicans, this particular norm is all but gone

they aren't going to pass anything, expel anybody, nor impeach Trump. Nobody up there could tie their own shoes in 10 days, much less successfully accomplish anything. it's all posturing for their constituent mobs now

Seems like this is pretty much covered by the 14th amendment, well within in the laws as written and too narrow in scope to have much in the way of long term ramifications. If I’m missing something i’d like to know.
