alright you know what let's do this I'm itching for it. here's my beef with the "post-rat community", as ill-defined it as it: - for a culture which on face value values diversity of ideas, many of you have enough abandonment trauma that y'all avoid actually straying farhttps://twitter.com/egregirls/status/1347308238728007681 …

- many of you hold trauma abt achievement and success, wanting to be useful, wanting recognition, etc. -- unfortunately it makes you very susceptible to idolizing people who appear to have made it, leading all in all to a very hierarchical community structure

- you dislike leftist positions because they wear their ideological influences on their sleeve, while steadily marching down existing ideological structures blindly because you can't see them - not everything should be done from first principles. we already studied this. read it.

- you are a community of people who valiantly disagree with being part of this community while also desperately clinging to it for validation - you have a set of darling issues (poly, casual sex, etc.) because they're "safe" to discuss. you are literally afraid of going further

- you don't have to like everyone. you don't have to consider every stance on detail. you don't have to always be accepting of everything, you just have intimate knowledge of abandonment & isolation & alienation and feel afraid of conflict, even healthy conflict

- contrarianism for the purpose of itself can be funny, in a self-aware way, but if you forget that some people actually have things they care abt and have lived or experienced to the degree that you sometimes wade right into aggressive discounting of people

- I love that you're moving away from over-explaining everything as a coping mechanism but if you really want to feel & vibe sometimes you just gotta let go. over-explaining your way out of over-explaining will never get you across the hump

- I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people. - your microcosm of understanding of the human condition and attempts to generalize it reminds me of how psych studies are mostly "young white male college student" studies

- you don't need to understand every position, follow every side of an issue, or embed yourself in the "culture wars". but you should understand what basis your position stands on, if you take one, and be open to defer to other people who already spent a ton of time on the issue

- this is more of an addendum, but the reason the hierarchical structure point is a criticism is because your darlings are people too. some of them are really good in their special areas. some of them are just likable. but they say plenty of dumb shit & the trust is unjustified
