Unfortunately, the last “Republican”, Arnold Schwarzenegger, had zero political experience and squandered his time in office. The one before that, Pete Wilson, cut a deal with the prison guards’ union that was emulated by many other states, creating the pension time bomb.

What is this community? Between angry assembly people, a crazy tax regime, local leaders unwilling to enforce simple quality of life laws, and the gentrification discourse, it seems like the locals don’t want tech people there very much at all

California 1) refuses to fix their property taxes 2) refuses to build more housing 3) companies already pay a lot via employee income taxes This is entirely CA’s fault. Some of the highest taxes in the country already.

With many of the Valley’s richest companies fleeing the Bay mid-pandemic, I feel compelled to speak out. There’s no question that California is imperfect. The cost of living, taxes and policies, among other things, make it difficult for lots of people to succeed here. (1/9)
