I know nothing relative to someone like tanner greer or Palmer but my impression is that it’s a lot like the Soviet army in the 60’s. If you’re not demonstrably loyal to the party you don’t get to be a general officer.

It’s sort of like how American generals never say we could lose Afghanistan. The process expressly filters out guys who question stuff like that somewhere around lieutenant colonel.
