i did let myself have one little treat this year and bought a new turntable and a couple monitors turntable gets my old M Audio speakers which, as i listen to the new pioneers, ultimately had superior bass pioneers are just a little too bright

Wait, is Monitor also an English term for speaker :o Anyway, a friend of mine built his own big ass speakers, took him a long time, but they sound really good. That might be an option for you in the future

i think a monitor is a specific kind of speaker honestly though i have very thin knowledge here, it seems to just be the term used :)

Ohh I didn’t know that. And oh god, I know what happened. Monitor is the German term for a display, for some reason I interpreted your tweet as “ I bought a couple displays”

In German and in English, "Monitor" can mean both "display" or "speaker for mixing audio". Monitor speakers have a very flat response across all frequencies, so while they might not sound _good_, they will typically show more details.
