if meteorology was psychology it would read like ‘clouds don’t cause rain, evaporation does’ ‘actually rain is caused by low air pressure’ ‘studies shows that rain is caused by the ground being wet’

That’s how it was thought of in the US, circa 1870 - lots of people thought that if you start cultivating arid land, it would rain more often, so wet ground causes rains.
