I would love to know why it's taken 9 months from the creation of an effective vaccine to determine safety and efficacy Especially since I defended Pfizer's timeline of waiting an extra week so that they could publish better vaccine results after the election instead of beforehttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1333537430285139971 …

there are a lot of factors. But I think the main one is that success in a petri dish in a lab is not the same as success in a human. You need to test efficacy and safety in a wide range of humans before you can get definitive answers.

Well obviously. But why the hell does that take 9 months in a massive pandemic with literally thousands of people dying every week? Recruit people off the goddamn street if you have to! There were no lack of people at risk for COVID who were willing to get a vaccine!

Please study more about this topic. Your plan has more likelihood of harming than helping. There are lots of smart people on this who have spent their lives becoming experts. They know more about the trade-offs than anything any of us can learn from wikipedia.

Your appeal to authority is ridiculous. You know precisely shit. It is absolutely reasonable to ask these questions. It is unreasonable to say "well smart people are smart and we shouldn't ever question them"

He may not be wrong, but in this day an age of tribalism, distrust, and sensationalism, it doesn't seem wise for gov't and industry to operate like thishttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1333542925381234691 …
