that isn't to say that i don't see where you're coming from. tribalistic psychology is undeniably a huge force in politics and that's in no way mutually exclusive with that some ideas/groups are much worse than others and this has very serious effects

i actually hate the type of people who are like "not taking politics seriously means you're too privileged for it to affect you". when i'm least inclined to hold serious beliefs it's clearly a coping mechanism for despair

but not taking politics seriously at all isn't an option overall. politics will continue taking you seriously regardless human psychology isn't gonna change any time soon so it's probably better to work around it than try to defeat it
