fraud is part of the electoral system and thats fine elections are designed by states with locally-chosen representatives who follow local norms about how much tomfoolery to allow in that communities elections that is, local fraud and disenfranchisement are robust federalism

anyway its an awful fucked up system and further there are good (bad) reasons for the absolute state of things being stuck in this equilibrium, good luck finding a new one in this life

Also, there's no room on the margins for gerrymandering reform en mass. It benefits minority / non-white candidates so much, and arguably in a way that is a net good for minimizing perceived disenfranchisement

Gerrymandering is such a bizarre beast If preferences are one-dimensional, at the local level a majority of the affected are happy with the outcome But we agree (generally, on a societal level) because there are parties who are *not* in the district with a stake in the outcome
