this feels like an unhelpfully vague platitudepic.twitter.com/T40JtyhlTa
okay i finished the article and the thing that was bothering me about it still stands but im gonna finish reading his twitter thread and see if its any better
is the difference between "statistical significance" and "practical significance" (or when i learned it, "economic significance") simply not taught? or does he just think hes very special for noticing something everybody already knowspic.twitter.com/AMzaKShQq2
okay i have finished reading. my biggest problem with this article is that it is 95% the same as an article written by a eugenicist about how, since some early statisticians were eugenicists, you should be too.
it doesnt really describe, in an intellectually satisfying fashion, what actually is *wrong* with significance testing. instead it very very much reads like, "statistics shows that white people are superior and therefore we should reject statistics"
Certain Types have a narrative that goes something like this: - white people are obviously the best - statistics proves that white people are the best - the Mainstream Media doesnt like this and tries to cover it up by calling Serious Scientists "racists" when they point it out
usually they say asians or jews rather than whites
