i dont like it any more than you do america seems like the only country in the world with near absolute free speech (happy to be corrected) thats interesting but also america had plenty of speech restrictions in even the recent past boston banned books into the 60s

It would be difficult, though. Of all the rights in the Bill of Rights, speech is probably the one with the fewest exceptions—it doesn't have things like TPM for assembly or the Smith rule for religion. You'd need a *really* compelling argument to chip away at that stare decisis

Even if there was a radical culture shift, courts are extremely hesitant to break precedent, especially in such a major way. Not saying it's a bad idea—I prefer Germany's laws about speech vs. America's—just that it's *way* easier said than done
