That depends a lot on many things. Armor is good, but a buddy to watch your 6 is worth a lot more. If you think you're in a situation where you need armor, you need at least a fire team to do anything effective in a conflict.

Lacking that, have a plan, have many plans. Know what those plans depend on (intel/supplies/personnel/etc) and be sure you are ready to execute on them if (when) needed. For example if you or your own got hit, where is the closest trauma center, where is the next closest...

Lastly be ready to think and plan outside the norm. If roads are blocked, what are the train lines like in your area, where are the curves they slow down for where you could jump on? If hospitals are not taking trauma pts do you know a vet that does a lot of surgery?

That isn't an easy thing to learn quick. Might look for these books: "Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured" and "PHTLS: Prehospital Trauma Life Support".

im taking a trauma course at a local range in a month or two which is my main weak point. im not working from zero, I worked as a lifeguard and took every first aid course I could in Scouts (some were solid)

glad you're getting training to make you and everyone around you safer :) I got my EMT cert (with a wilderness addition) last year and am glad I did it when I did

If you move someplace rural look into your local volunteer fire/ems dept. Ours teaches an EMR or EMT class from time to time in evenings/weekends. Also joining a vol dept is a great way to get some hands on experience.

Yep, many evening/weekend courses available most places, just takes longer to complete obviously
