You and I have very different meanings of “forced to accept.” There is a considerable difference between agreeing with something and being unable to defeat it. If the other side is unable to defeat it, it doesn’t matter what they think. This is not persuasion.

Industrialists who hate labor unions were not persuaded to allow collective bargaining. They were forced to by law. They were not persuaded and it doesn’t matter what they think. Putting all your eggs in the persuasion basket is a failure strategy.
