I know there was a low-grade thing I caught in passing of activists chaining themselves to the doors of NYC courthouses because NYC started doing evictions again. /Maybe there's just a processing rate lag?

Yep. The wheels of justice grind slow etc etc. Plus some people had come up with a few last ditches. They got strung out a lot longer than most thought they would, the clusters are somewhat smaller than anticipated.

Homes fall apart much faster when nobody lives there. Homes fall apart *much* *much* faster when you throw people out of them at a time like this. You’d destroy your property one way or another for getting it into a catastrophic market – everybody else is in the same boat.

Probably the best bet, at least in the case of renters you didn’t want to get rid of anyway, is giving forbearance / partial debt forgiveness, so that you have a going good relationship if/when things get better.
