this was an interesting line of thought yesterday its strictly true but also not in a broader sense ie i dont see any positive discussion of family outside of trad discourse very easy for left or center to present an alternative vision in theory no? https://twitter.com/default_friend/status/1320606998770053123 …

Isn’t viewing family vs individual as basic atom of society mostly a religious thing in the modern west? If true I’d guess it maps “right” only by default because left anti-religiosity ever since Marx (and liberal since, birth of liberalism I guess).

When right was actual competition as egregore with working digestive system it was very pro fecundity mostly because it took its sacrifices by war. Never for family autonomy, the literal Prussians invented modern child jail!

in my observation a lot of super left people--and also oddly a lot of nrx types--are really unhappy about their own upbringing and surroundings and this leads to complicated feelings about family
-
Indeed. Among the online left especially, legitimate analyses of family dynamics, particularly when children are involved, gets twisted up with personal biases that never go acknowledged. Incidentally, you also see this with legitimate analyses of relationship dynamics
