It took me several years of working in electronics labs to really get even the concept of a “ground”. I only intuitively understood inductance recently. As a fellow good-at-math kid, I think it kept me from knowing how little I knew

I never got it. I suspect most people don't. The explanations across textbooks for most concepts are cookie clutter and then they tell you "hey let's solve a wheatstone bridge" so you feel you have done something lol
