I agree with this, especially the bit about maintaining emotional stability

the bulk of my emotional labor is dealing with women crying about nothing.
-
also acquiring unpleasant knowledge that i need to make important but unpleasant decisions, making those unpleasant decisions, and then accepting the consequences of those decision because i am a king and that's what kings do.

these 3 things are true ime: 1) women do more emo labor 2) men would do more but they react slower so in most situations women do it because they get there first 3) a large % of emotional labor is unnecessary to do or negative to do anyway
-
I would fill in the oval by #3 and move to the next question.

I know in my personal experience that my SO puts in just as much emotional labor as I do, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending. I think maybe they're onto something in terms of how we define emotional labor. I think men and women just shine in different areas, here.
-
Also going to depend on the individual, of course.

I agree with the premise generally and think there's something worth looking into on "the labor men do is done so as to be invisible"

I think to be respected, women are expected to perform male emotional labor, not falling apart in crisis + suppressing emotion, whereas men are never really expected to perform female emotional labor? so I think there is still imbalance but men do perform a distinct kind of labor

Emotional labor is mostly just applied neuroticism
-
Or how about this: emotional labor is an oxymoron
